Luciano Pavarotti

Italian tenor was born in Modena and was managed to vocal training from his nine years. Pavarotti began the serious study of music in 1954 at the age of 19 with Arrigo Pola. His career began as a tenor in 1961 in Italy. He sang in opera houses in The Netherlands, Vienna, London, Ankara, Budapest and Barcelona. His major breakthrough came on in 1972 in the United States, in a production of La fille du régiment at New York"s Metropolitan Opera, in which he drove the crowd into a frenzy with his nine effortless high C in the signature aria. From this day he had known worldwide. 
 
Pavarotti crossed over into popular music and became one of the world"s most famous vocal performers. He was one of The Three Tenors – he sang together with Plácido Domingo and José Carreras, he had several concerts also with pop icons. Luciano Pavarotti died at home in Modena from pancreatic cancer in 2007.
