To inaugurate the
acquisition of seven Petrof grand pianos, the Music Department of
Eastern Kentucky University recently held a festive piano event. Designated “A Petrof Celebration”, the concert featured the artistic talents of eight pianists (students and faculty) performing selections by
Scarlatti,
Ginastera,
Rachmaninoff,
Granados,
Ravel and
Mozart.
Occupying center stage was the Petrof P284 “
Mistral”, a 9’2” concert grand. This masterfully built instrument is comfortably at home in the concert hall and its capacity for nuance allows the exquisite interpretation of musically demanding compositions of all genre. “
This piano has the characteristically rich Petrof grand piano sound”, said Professor Rob James, music department chair, “
and is extremely beautiful in appearance.”
